trusme gets the remix treatment from answer code request, ben sims & pangaea. this is the first of two eps featuring remixes of tracks from the trusme planet 4 album. answer code request takes our future into new territory with two outstanding mixes. remix 1 moves things to a much more sinister & foreboding place. tightening the feel & tension of the original with all the hallmarks of classic berlin techno. remix 2 winds up & coils the track into a searing workout of early 90s hardcore breakbeat. ben sims takes control of ring round heart, pushing the tempo & creating a whole new urgency in the track. this is proper no nonsense heads down business & tight as you like. the mix builds excellently well & manages to produce an epic amount of feel and emotion, dropping in & out of the groove with a sneaky breakbeat & vocal dubs. pangaea tackles one of the albums more esoteric tracks in the unexplained. he manages to work a wonderfully intriguing steppers beat which drops from nowhere after the highly beguiling metronomic extended opening. the tracks are getting plenty of play & plaudits from likes of ben ufo, dj deep, bicep & anthony parasole.

tenor singer johnny clarke had many false starts in his youthful days. hanging around studio one as a schoolboy with jacob miller, clarke was supposed to record material written for him by bob andy, but somehow never made the grade. his 1973 debut recording for lesser-known producer glen stair was not released, and early work for clancy eccles failed to hit, though ‘everyday wondering’ for rupie edwards made an underground impact in britain and new york. subsequent singles for keith hudson and glen brown also did not get very far, but the breakthrough finally came when bunny lee asked him to sing ‘none shall escape the judgement,’ which was written by the singer earl zero, it became a massive hit that launched the ‘flying cymbal’ craze (based on an open-and-closed high-hat cymbal pattern, adapted from the soul train theme), and clarke became one of lee’s most reliable hit-makers, partly because lee stoked a rivalry between him and cornell campbell, whom lee had previously asked to voice ‘none shall escape.’ clarke’s satisfaction lp was recorded at harry j for lee, voiced at king tubby’s studio, and issued by third world in 1979. it is a set largely comprised of cover tunes, such as the strong opening update of the paragons’ ‘riding for a fall,’ the title track adapting their rock steady hit ‘my satisfaction’ in a post-rockers style. better still is the hard-hitting ‘reality’ tune, ‘play fool, get wise,’ which uses a proverb to relate a means of avoiding trouble on the dog-eat-dog mean streets of kingston.

following the first chapter of andy mac sdiving birdseries, idle hands welcomes italian producer piezo into the fold with an ep that harks back to the smoky, dubwise ambience of some of the label s earliest releases. luca mucci was a bristol resident for a few years before returning to his native milan, carving out an identity for his piezo alias with a slew of dubstep-focused eps on labels such as artikal music and subaltern. while on an idle hands skirmish stateside and playing on ny radio, one of the kelly twins dropped lume and remarked on how idle it sounded, sparking the process that led to this record. you can sense a link the early kowton records on ep opener opeq, all monochromatic textures and taut, slow-stalking rhythms, but here those facets are interspersed with a unique melodic elegance that offsets the moody immersion of the track, eventually blooming out into an effervescent slice of slow-motion house music. novemiluano meanwhile displays muccis capabilities in handling broken beats, exercising a devastating restraint without compromising on presence or energy in crafting a stunning piece of meditative soundsystem music. pushing that foundational dub principle of space and minimalism even further, lume closes the record out in stunning style with an intimate, glacial stepper that champions minute detail as much as looming gaps in the sound. with a peppering of micro sampling atop a deathly bassweight march, its a finely pointed arrow aimed right at the heart of idle hands, and we couldn t be happier to be releasing it.

powder is an up-and-coming producer from tokyo who had put out only a couple of releases on born free and esp institute when resident advisor featured her on the monthly series breaking through this past august. inspired by her first visit to cocktail d amore in 2015, she was so enthralled by the atmosphere, she started working on an ep for the label capturing her experiences from the party. the way powder interprets sound is extremely personal and unique. the opener hip has a driving sensual groove with hints of acid, seasoned with a good amount of loons and a mysterious foggy melody while heart sounds like an italo disco aural translation of a shojo manga script for a fun in the sun tinged story. on the flip side a slowmo industrial-meets-rainforest groove characterizes hole followed by hair in which she blends many layers of rhythm patterns together.

kreattones third release is here, and we are extremely proud and thrilled to present “day tripper” from the outrageously talented jesse bru. this four-track ep is a lesson on sampling, cutting and building, an aspect already acclaimed and recognized by all that had the chance to hear jesse s work (released on heart to heart, egoplanet, etc…). the opening track shares the ep title and clearly demonstrates mr. bru’s vision on deep-house, with elements coming and going, breaks and drops, all working in perfect harmony. “i want u” is a groundbreaking piece of art, filled with melancholy, heart-driven feelings and shivering whispers, resulting in a gorgeous love song. the first track on the b side, “they told me” is a uplifting tune, with clinic-cut sampling, powerful vocals and beautiful percussion. last but not least “remember how it used to be”, a groovy arrangement of pads and vocals topped with a killer bass, ideal for club use. considering that this one blew our scale, we hope you enjoy this record as much as we do.

we are very happy excited to reveal to you the next installment of alfresco disco records. seka is a close friend and has played and raved at many of the alfresco disco parties. not only a great selector, here he clearly demonstrates he is no slouch in the studio either. from his studio in the heart of bristol, seka has used an analogue approach and his trusty mpc to carve out three satisfying, sample heavy house cuts that are unique and full of character. on the remix duties we enlisted the portugese maestro tiago, a resident at the brilliant lux club in lisbon who brings a live, percussive vibe to the release. enjoy!

nous horizon is yukseks great studio album comeback, 5 years after his last album. yukseks characteristic sound, midway between post-disco, house and pop, shines through on its various tracks. even more than on his last album, living on the edge of time, yuksek shows his talent as a singer. nous horizon is an album of mostly duets, invitations to sing together (break my heart, sunrise, sweet addiction, stay) featuring greek singer monika, french pop bands her, juveniles and roman rappak (from band breton) his new melodies are sunnier than before his beats and production more subtle.

it is a big temptation - whilst striving to place oneself on the map - to favour and repeat established structures and norms in order to gain fortune, fame and power. to cripple a work of art under pressure of commercial success and to trade the uniqueness of a creative spark for an egoistic idea means using a calculating mind to overrule art and emotions. but this pulse of an artist is not his mind but his heart with which he exposes his energy and vibration through frequencies. for this reason there is only one way which retains the creation in its innocent spontaneous form in order to stay true to its inspirational core. the path of resistance! since laars epic crowdsurfing days touring with his former disco-band tog, laars has been honing his production skills with more metric music inspired by the classic godfathers patrick crowley and giorgio moroder for lysår/none 12inch. making playful, percussive house music with a disco heart is one of laars passions that comes into play on this 12inch. sampling hits from his favorite records, sweeping filters, playing on his juno 60 and having his band mates come in to play percussion and synthesizers over some of his grooves you can hear how much fun theyve been having making the record. the mysterious willy nickersen has remixed the songs into deeper territories complementing the record making it able to lift dance floors across the globe.

i admit i wasn’t familiar with this album, so many just pass us by, but as i sat back and listened, i slowly realized that this isn’t just any soul lp, it’s a masterpiece, full of passion and tenderness, it was like a huge hug from long lost lover... beautiful... enjoy it!
